The Honolulu Star-Advertiser facility features a unique displacement air distribution system for cool, clean,
and energy efficient environmental control of the press machinery.  Notkin Hawaii Inc. pioneered the idea of
a Displacement Air Type System which "pours" instead of "blows" cooled air into the space.  Also, this new
facility allows The Honolulu Advertiser to print a 64-page paper with color on every page which prints up to
70,000 copies an hour.  Notkin Hawaii Inc. provided mechanical design services for the 147,000 sf, $82
million production facility which included  ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems.

The Honolulu Advertiser Production and Distribution Facility won the ACEC Hawaii Engineering Excellence
2005 Grand Conceptor Award submitted by Notkin Hawaii Inc.
